KISSS subsurface irrigation is the only irrigation that effectivly waters a greenroofs

HOW KISSS WORKS FOR GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS
KISSS Capillary Irrigation uses patented water transmitting geo-textile, high quality drip tubing, a dispersion layer and a very crucial anti-percolation layer to create the most advanced, efficient, and effective irrigation system in the world today.  All of these components work together to achieve a more uniform wetting pattern; and also stops downward percolation of water after leaving the drip emitters.  Additionally, the anti-percolation layer is only 4” wide and is typically spaced at 20” on center, so it will not impede drainage capabilities of roof systems.
Other benefits include more drought tolerant plants because of a more robust root system with KISSS, decreased establishment time and increased plant growth.  The KISSS system is generally more economical than most drip systems, and definitely easier to install in eco roof applications.
KISSS systems are installed with fully automated moisture sensors,  flow sensors and is programmed to irrigate only when it is necessary, using local ET weather data.  We set you up to monitor your eco roof irrigation system through the web so you can monitor your systems’ health and potential maintenance requirements.

BENEFITS OF KISSS IRRIGATION ON GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS

  • Use less water than any other irrigation system available
  • Drastically shortened establishment period
  • Peace of mind in the event of excessive heat waves or drought.
  • Increased plant growth
  • Increased drought tolerance
  • No need for manual watering in the establishment phase
  • Web Access to the system 24 hours a day 7 days a week
  • Most environmentally friendly eco roof irrigation system

Additional Benefits of Green Roofs

Sound Dampening

Soil, vegetation and additional waterproofing layers can reduce sound from airplanes and machinery.

Extended Roof Life

Green roofs protect roofing membranes from extreme temperature fluctuations, ultraviolet radiation, and other natural extremes.

Reduced Energy Cost

Layers of a roof garden insulate buildings and can significantly reduce heating bills in winter, and AC bills in the summer.

Storm water Management
Roof gardens absorb rainfall and gently allow storm water to runoff reducing environmental impact.
Heat Island Effect
Rooftops absorb heat during daylight hours and reflect it back into the atmosphere, temperatures above building can be up to 10° higher than surrounding temperatures. Green roofs negate this affect.
Incentives
As "Green" initiatives become more prevalent in urban areas many city's and municipality's will begin offering bigger and bigger incentives for green roofs.
