EXTENSIVE GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS
Extensive green roof systems are low weight, and generally low maintenance systems with a total profile less than 6 inches in most cases.  These systems are designed to provide many benefits to the structure they are constructed on.  These eco roof systems generally do not support human interaction but do provide the insulation, and runoff control.  This green roof system is commonly used on larger buildings that have limited weight allowance and limited rooftop access but desire to control the amount of runoff and provide an appealing rooftop to those viewing it from surrounding buildings.  A great example of this is the Target Center in Minneapolis Minnesota.

INTENSIVE GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS
Intensive green roof systems generally boast a deeper profile greater than 6” and a greater weight associated with the system.  These eco roof systems offer not only the insulation and runoff benefits of an extensive green roof system but also are designed to support human interaction as well.  These systems are commonly seen on parking garages, hospitals, and other rooftop parks.  A great example of this type of rooftop is the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas.  These systems often provide an amenity space for many buildings that do not have the available footprint to provide this setting at ground level.

KISSS greenroofs systems can suport Extensive, Intensive Monolithic, and Modular greenroof dsigns

MONOLITHIC GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS
A monolithic eco roof system is the most common system installed to date.  This system is installed with each layer acting as a single component of the system.  The drainage layers are continuous throughout the entire roof section as are the soil and planting profiles.  These systems range in cost and weight drastically depending on the allowances of the building.

MODULAR GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS
These systems are modular in nature and come with the drainage layer, filter cloth, growing medium, and plants already assembled in grid systems that are commonly interlocking grid systems installed on the roof.
