KISSS subsurface irrigation sports turf installation

KISSS is installed in a sports fields using the specialized KISSS plow. This is the only plow available to effectively install the KISSS Below Flow Flat Capillary Irrigation system.

Here is a simple breakdown of how the kisss Plow works.

A. Slicing the turf - The coulter disc mounted in the front of the KISSS plow slices the turf to minimize damage and scaring to existing turf.

B. Placing KISSS subsurface irrigation - The KISSS subsurface irrigation material is then rolled off of a specialized reel system and down the uniquely designed shank. Then the KISSS material passes through the shank and out of the rear of the foot of the plow. This specially designed foot actually works to open the 4 inch wide KISSS material so it lays flat underground.

C. Closing it up - The narrow slits made from the plow shank are just driven back over with the tractor and closed. The field can usually be played on again the next day.

Soil Testing

KISSS uses different flow rates of drip tubing and tape in our Below Flow irrigation products (see specification data for more info). This is due to the wide variety of soil types which all have different water absorbing capabilities.  We always recommend soil be tested before installation of Below Flow. The KISSS capillary soil test produces the following installation data:

  1. Spacing for Below Flow
  2. Depth of Below Flow products
  3. Duration and frequency of irrigation cycles
  4. Soil amendments you may want to consider for optimum plant health and water holding ability
