Ebb and Flow Mat's Operating Flexability
The container on the left is filled with moist soil while the container on the right contains dry soil. Notice the dyed water actually changes its path and completely ignores the moist soil. Ebb and Flow mat automatically adjust to soil conditions and always delivers water where it is needed. This is why Ebb and Flow Mat is considered intelligent irrigation.
- Ebb and Flow MAT automatically adjusts to provide the water needs for pots of many sizes growers can place plug trays or large pots on the same mat, and each will take up only the water it needs.
- Ebb and Flow MAT systems may also be used for containers larger than 2 gallons, whether planter bags or in pots, where adequate root volume has already been established or capillary lift in media is improved through additives such as coir or peat.
- Pots with bottom holes, side drainage holes or a combination of each will all work satisfactorily with Ebb and Flow MAT systems.
- Ebb and Flow MAT systems can be used on slopes of reasonably even grade and with care at the preparation stage it makes the rest of the job simple.
- The same mat may be used outdoors or on greenhouse benches. Some differences in operating procedures will apply, as described in the Ebb and Flow MAT Distributor Manual.
- A major advantage of the system is that growers can customize their irrigation cycles to the special needs of their different plants and growing conditions.
