A number of benefits available from the Ebb and Flow capillary mat are clear, but difficult to quantify:

• Ebb and Flow MAT’s dark color draws natural heat into the irrigation water contained within it assisting growth in cool weather.

• Growers maintain full and easy access to plants at all times, even during irrigation - without getting wet or adversely affecting the irrigation.

• Nursery personnel do not have to exercise special care in the placement of pots on Ebb and Flow MAT.  This contrasts with capillary systems where pots must be bedded down to establish capillary links.

• Pots are not saturated, even during irrigation.  Retail or other customers can pick up pots for examination with less concern for getting wet from dripping water.

• Irrigation does not interfere with pesticide application, nor wash off pesticides already applied.

• Ebb and Flow MAT minimizes puddles of water during or after irrigation.  Built-in drainage facilities for greenhouse use assist in controlling disposal of waste water.
