- Why is SCI
better than SDI?
- KISSS™ SUBSURFACE CAPILLARY IRRIGATION (SCI) creates a wide and continuous wetting pattern giving all plants and turf equal access to water and allows for near perfect air filled porosity. This does not happen when using SUBSURFACE DRIP IRRIGATION (SDI). SDI systems emit water from point sources thus forming water saturated anaerobic (low oxygen) areas in the soil that are not optimal for plant growth or disease tolerance. SCI irrigation creates a significantly larger volume of moist, non-saturated soil. This means that more nutrients and oxygen are available to roots in a larger area.
By irrigating with SCI all turf and plants are healthier, more productive, more uniform and more resilient to drought and disease. SCI has the other benefit of being immune to root intrusion given that the proper irrigation cycles are implemented. No herbicides or acid flushes are required to remove roots.
- Below Flow
FLAT
- Below Flow FLAT (also known as BFF) is made up of three specialized layers:
Drip Tape - Water is carried to the geo-textile fiber through pressure compensating emitters welded to the inside wall of high quality drip tape. This material is known as "drip tape" in the irrigation industry; however, we use 25 and 35 mil thick tape which is more "tube-like" in structure.
Geo-Textile Fiber - Geo-textile fiber is the heart of KISSS systems. This special "capillary fiber" wicks water out into soil at its own natural absorption rate. This kind of "capillary action" prevents over-saturation of soil, water waste, and soil compaction.
Dispersion Tape - The top blue strip of tape, known as the dispersion layer prevents water from creating a chimney effect from the emitters within the tape and tunneling straight to the surface.
Anti Percolation Layer - The bottom later is designed to prevent downward drainage loss of water.
- Below Flow
WRAP
-
Below Flow WRAP is made for curved and undulating turf and planted areas and is made up of 3 layers:
Drip Tube - Below Flow WRAP uses a tough, high quality drip tube to deliver water to the surrounding capillary fiber. The tube within Below Flow WRAP has self flushing, pressure compensating, NO-LEAK emitters and allows Below Flow WRAP to be the KISSS product of choice for heavily sloping and irregular areas.
Geo-Textile Fiber - Geo-textile fiber is the heart of all KISSS systems.
- KISSS Ebb &
Flow MAT
-
The KISSS Ebb and Flow MAT is the worlds' most advanced green house and nursery container irrigation system. Ebb and Flow MAT combines the attributes of a capillary mat watering system, and ebb and flow flood system into one simple product. The 4 parts of Ebb and Flow MAT are:
Drip Tapes - High flow drip tapes are sewn into the sides of the mat and act as a water delivery system for the mat itself. The tapes are sewn within a layer of geotextile fiber and thick polyethylene keeping them safe from mechanical damage and wear.
Top Layer - The top layer is made of very porous, hydro-phobic polypropylene plastic. This layer prevents evaporations loss, protects the central layer, and provides a grid pattern for container organization.
Middle Layer - The geo-textile fiber middle layer is the heart of the system. Water is delivered to this layer from the drip tapes sewn into the sides of the mat. When containers contact the Ebb and Flow MAT water is forced up from the geo-textile fiber, through the polypropylene layer and into bottom or side holes of the containers.
Bottom Layer - The bottom layer is made up of tough polyethylene plastic which hold water on the mat, and protects the mat from mechanical damage while also protecting the surface the mat rests upon<.
- Safety Flow
- Safety Flow is the KISSS waste water irrigation product. KISSS Safety Flow comes in Safety Flow FLAT and Safety Flow WRAP. The watering attributes and installation of Safety Flow is identical to its Below Flow sister product line. Safety Flow is also made up of the same specialized materials with one exception. Since Safety Flow is a wastewater/grey water system it utilizes special dripper line rated for this type of effluent water.
Special filtration and septic system must be used in conjunction with KISSS Safety Flow, however these systems are simple to install and widely available is the irrigation market.
